It was bound to happen, and today was the day. The Coast Guard and Sheriff’s Dept. came to inspect the Miss Rockaway Armada. We passed! With flying colors (more or less).
A sergeant from the Sheriff’s Dept. was overheard on his phone saying, “If I called in a report on this, no one would believe it.” One of the Coast Guard officers commented, “I wouldn’t be caught dead on that thing…that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be a lot of fun.”
In all seriousness, the Coast Guard was professional, respectful, and definitely had our safety in mind. We’ll be in contact with them throughout the trip.
